There is still room for improvements for the next year. Interesting what can be done in eight hours. I guess if you move gauges and instruments from virtual cockpit to lower instrument panel things immediately look more sophisticated. Adventure and exploration in a 172 WITHMYCESSNA Read More. Believe it or not, but some real pilots were impressed. The leader in pilot training and recreation aircraft, Cessna’s line of single-engine piston aircraft is unparalleled. We had quite some interest especially among kids. The last detail was ButtKicker which added engine vibrations and many hard landings. Unfortunately the lack of time didn’t allow installation of all the switches, gauge bezels and proper glare shield, however … after installation at the event area we made this. Due to the size and position of the monitor, the yoke axis must be 8-9 cm lower than in reality! That was difficult to accept.įront panel painting followed long in the night. It’s unfortunate they are gone!Īnd wooden frame holding stripped monitor. without them that wouldn’t look this good. Same goes for navigation that won’t be used this time. Does not matter, I’ll make some still pictures for them just for the looks. I couldn’t find the rest of smaller gauges like oil temp/press, fuel flow/EGT and AMP/VAC. I found basic six flight instruments, rpm, fuel and clock. Positioning of monitor and TheGaugesFactory instruments. The cutting of instrument holes is followed. Hopefully there is quite a few of them on the Internet.įor the base plate, I selected Polystrol plates because I already had some and they are easy to process and glue. Decision fell and I stared making Cessna 172 basic instrument panel.įirst I needed instrument panel dimensions and plan. The GoolRC F949 Cessna 182 RC plane comes with quite a cool design. This plane can seat nine passengers with a single pilot, although with a FAR Part 23 waiver, it can legally hold up to fourteen passengers. As the size of an airplane does affect the prices, we have a look at the smallest. It is designed primarily as a short-haul regional airliner and utility aircraft. These gauges are just to good not to use them. The Cessna 208 Caravan is a single-engined turboprop with the fixed-tricycle landing gear. There was not much time but I already had Pro Flight Cessna yoke, throttle quadrant, spare monitor, enough plywood leftovers from A320 build and those awesome freeware TheGaugesFactory. Something resembling more like a flight simulator… I know but A320 is far from finished! Next most obvious thing was Cessna 172 cockpit or at least instrument panel. This year, I wanted to show something a bit more than just FSX virtual cockpit on three monitors. Thanks for any suggestions. Our Virtual aviation club KVLS has recently been invited to participate and present flight simulation at the Ljubljana Airport Festival (a day for the airport workers’ families and friends). Also, could you estimate for me a rough dimension? It would be the vertical distance from the top of the side monitor to the top of your front view frame. Do you find this “fools” the eyes into not looking for a continuous horizon? I’m considering physically separating the side monitors from the front one to achieve this effect. Looking at your setup it seems you have put a bit of distance between the forward edge of the side monitors and the frame of your front windscreen. But once in flight the horizon starts to to separate depending on the attitude of the plane. Separate views can be aligned while sitting on the ground (mostly). The “wide aspect” view attains this, but with the “fish eye” look, which is not acceptable. My problem is that I am continually trying to orient the side views so that the horizon appears continuous. I use three separate views, forward, left and right. It is essentially three 27″ Asus monitors in a roughly 135 deg. I have been slowly building up my own rig, although it is a lot more basic than yours. I really enjoy your blog and the effort you have put into your simplane.
